Dia-Treaties® for Diabetic Dogs
March, 2009 – A study on Type I (insulin-dependent), poorly regulated, diabetic dogs was coordinated by Vintek Nutrition, LLC and conducted by several veterinarians across the United States. The study was based on a new patent pending product for diabetic dogs called Dia-Treaties®. The study results indicated that the use of Dia-Treaties® enabled the dog owners to use less insulin ranging from (15-67%) while greatly enhancing the overall health of their dog. Owners also reported a dramatic increase in their dog’s energy level and enhanced skin and coat conditions along with the other issues associated with diabetic complications. As of August 16th, 2013, Dia-Treaties® have consistently shown over a long period of time (4 years) that it enhances the utilization of insulin and increases its efficiency. Insulin types tested: (Vetsulin® (pulled from the market in 2010-11 returned 4/2013), Humulin-N®, Novolin-N®).
This article is designed to point out that a number of the original study dogs taking Dia-Treaties® along with their (decreased amount of) insulin shots are still going strong as of August 2013, which is a true testament to Dia-Treaties® effectiveness. All the dogs mentioned below were struggling with insulin alone. Today, they are currently on less insulin, regulated, and doing considerably better than they were many years ago (3.6 to 4.5 years ago (range of sample dogs)). Vintek Dogs – Dia-Treaties® for Dog Diabetes
- Vincent (Italian Greyhound) –Diabetes diagnosed: 4/14/08 (5 yrs 4 months ago). Dia-Treaties® original test subject started treatment on: 3/3/09 (4 yrs, 5 mo.) – Original Data: Vincent was not responding to either Vetsulin® or Humulin-N® and topped out at 14 units. His midday blood glucose (B/G) readings were 392 mg/dl, he went blind from cataracts, he weighed 14 lbs (original 21 lbs) and was in skin and bones condition. Present: Controlled, 14 years 8 months old, 9 units Humulin-N® and 2 boxes of Dia-Treaties® per month. Vision restored with Surgery. 18.5 pounds. Care of: Dr. Sam Lukens.
- Lulu (Welsh Corgi) – Dia-Treaties® started: 11/26/09 to Present (3 yrs, 9 mo.) – Original Data: LuLu was not eating, she was on Vetsulin®, midday B/G +400 mg/dl. Present: Controlled, 9 years old, and still going strong. 1 Box of Dia-Treaties per month and Humulin-N®. Care of: Dr. Sam Lukens
- Indiana (Schnauzer)– 10/19/09 to Present (3 yrs, 10 mo.) – Original Data: Indiana has Cushing’s disease and subsequent diabetes. Humulin N®, midday B/G 408 mg/dl. With Dia-Treaties® he is controlled. During initial testing, treats were purposely removed to establish cause and effect and his B/G shot up to 596 mg/dl. Consequently, he was quickly put back on the Dia-Treaties regimen and subsequently re-established control again. Present: Controlled, 9.5 years old, and still doing well – 1 Box of Dia-Treaties® per month and Humulin-N®. Care of: Dr. Angela Anderson and owner (physician’s assistant predominately working with diabetic patients).
- Piper (Min Pin) – Dia-Treaties® 3/25/10 to Present: (3 yrs, 6 mo.) – Original Data: Veterinary Technician’s dog with uncontrolled B/G ranging from 500 to 22 mg/dl (high-highs and scary-lows). Present: Controlled, 10 years old, and Doing Great. 1 Box of Dia-Treaties® a month and Humulin-N®. Care of: Dr. Craig Galbreath and Vet Tech owner.
- Toto (Cairn Terrier) – Diagnosed 11/1/09, Started Dia-Treaties® 11/23/09 (3 yrs, 9 mo.) – Original Data: 381 mg/dl – B/G reading midday, severe skin-coat issues and seasonal allergies. Present: Controlled, 11 years old, perennial skin and coat problems gone. 1 Box of Dia-Treaties® per month and Humulin-N®. Care of: Dr. Sam Lukens and owner is a practicing nurse.
SUMMARY: Tracked over an extended period of time, usage of Dia-Treaties® for diabetic dogs has consistently shown that it enhances the lives of diabetic dogs and increases the ease of care for their owners. Today, this sample of five dogs are not only Alive, they are Thriving because of the combined usage of Dia-Treaties® and a decreased amount of insulin.
